with shared stories and memories.


Fifty one years in an adventurous marriage with Karyl,

including travels in Canada, Europe, Sub Saharan Africa,

Morocco and Iran.


Fifty years as a member of the Mountaineers, including-

president, board member, conservation chair and

recipient of the Mountaineer Service Award.


Twenty years as a climb leader, including 13 ascents of Mt Baker

and six ascents of Liberty Bell. Leader of climber’s

outings to Peru, Alaska, British Columbia (Mt.

Waddington), Wyoming (Grand Teton and the Wind River

Range), Idaho (War Bonnet area) and numerous outings

in the North Cascades which included five first ascents,

including Mt Agnes. Ascent of the Matterhorn,



Conservation lobbyist who helped pass the Alpine Lakes

Wilderness bill, 1984 Washington Wilderness Act, the

forest service Plum Creek Land Exchange and the

Olympic National Park ocean strip additions.


Biker and kayaker in Washington, British Columbia,

France and Croatia.


49 year season ticket holder to Seattle Opera and

supporter of many local theaters.


Well known host famous for his Chicken Cacciatore.


Norman is survived by his Brother Rodger Winn and his wife

Dianne Winn, and a niece and three nephews. Preceded in death

by his wife Karyl Winn and parents Gardner and Viola Winn.
