Mackenzie Christine Mitchell

Mackenzie Christine Mitchell, age 29, of Mountlake Terrace, WA was tragically taken from us on November 3, 2022 after a drunken driver took her life as she was coming home from the airport after a brief getaway.

Mackenzie “Kenzie”, was born on May 7, 1993 to Michael Mitchell and Melinda Ogilvie in Edmonds, WA. She moved from Edmonds to Mountlake Terrace in 2000 when her Mother, Melinda, married her stepfather Robert “Bob” Ogilvie. Kenzie attended Terrace Park K-8 and Mountlake Terrace High School where she met many people who became her lifelong friends. Kenzie has sadly left behind so many “Best Friends” who loved her fiercely.

Along with her parents, Kenzie is survived by her Brother and Sister in Law; Evan Mitchell and Molly Corby, Sister; Hunter Mitchell and the light of her life, her son; Joshua Olson. She also leaves behind a community that loved her very much, numerous Uncles, Aunts, cousins, extended family and the very best of friends.

In 2013, Kenzie gave birth to her son; Josh. Kenzie immediately welcomed the role as Mother and spent all her time devoted to her son. She, and partner, Cameron Olson, happily cared for and loved Josh raising him to be the amazing young boy he is at the age of 9 years old.

For the past four years, Kenzie balanced Motherhood with a job as Bartender at a local Mountlake Terrace Tavern; The Getaway. At the Getaway, she had many friends, family and regulars who visited her often. Kenzie loved serving others and made some true and endearing friends through her work. Prior to her employment at the Getaway, Kenzie worked at several service positions and in Early Childhood Education.

Kenzie was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. She will forever be in our hearts and we will treasure the abundant memories we’ve made with such a beautiful soul. Her loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind.  Her love for life and others was contagious. Kenzie loved adventure but more so, she enjoyed quiet times with friends, family, loved ones and especially her times with her little boy, Josh.

A private Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 and followed by a public gathering at The Getaway Tavern in Mountlake Terrace (her place of work at the time of her passing) at approximately 4PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a non-profit organization; “It Takes a Village” founded to benefit Kenzie’s son, Joshua, in his future. Donations can be made at any local Heritage Bank.
