Elmerante “Boyette” Acacio

Elmerante “Boyette” Acacio was born August 2, 1958 in Manila, Philippines to Elmer and Erlinda Acacio. He was the oldest of 10 children. Growing up as a child, Elmerante spent many of his younger years with his grandparents in Vintar, Ilocos Norte where he finished his elementary and high school education. He returned to Manila to attend Jose Rizal College where he studied Liberal Arts. During his college years, Elmerante joined the ROTC and became an active ranking officer.

Elmerante loved music and playing the guitar. This was always part of his pastime especially when he was with friends and family. His love for music and talent in playing the guitar influenced some of his siblings to learn how to play as well. But Elmerante’s greatest talent and joy was playing chess and he was very good at it. He played competitively for his college and brought home many trophies.

When most of his family immigrated to the United States, Elmerante remained in the Philippines and was able to finally join the family a few years later. He resided in Kirkland, WA and dedicated himself to work and his continued education. Elmerante went on to attend Bellevue College where he studied software programming and e-commerce.

Elmerante had an infectious laugh. He always took the time to have those enjoyable conversations during family gatherings and inevitably crack a joke or two that livened up the room with laughter. He lived simply but had a generous heart and cared deeply for his family and friends.

In January of 2022, Elmerante suffered a stroke and passed away peacefully in the presence of family on May 16, 2022.

Elmerante is survived by his mother Erlinda, siblings Elsa, Elmo, Errol, Emelinda, Erickson, Eloise, Elmira and Elaine. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Acacio (2005) and sister Earlynn (1973).
