Marnie was my Sergeant for a while on the night shift patrol squad working Skid Road and Chinatown in Seattle. Our whole squad was composed of long-time street cops, while Marnie's background was in investigations. She was a pleasure to work for. She made allowances for us primitive, unrefined types who chose to make a career in Patrol. She was always good-humored and forgiving of our crude ways. I have always remembered her fondly. I wish she could have been Chief.
