Michael Francis Rausch
Michael was born on April 18th, 1957 in Burlington, Wisconsin and suddenly passed away on July 26th, 2020 at his home in Ballard, Washington at the age of 63. Mike is survived by his two children, Taylor age 29, Audrey age 25 and his loving wife, Becky of more than 40 years, his parents, Joseph and Nancy Rausch, and his five siblings, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.
His transcendence constituted his character. Mike was a wide-eyed Wisconsin-boy, with a heart as big as the land he grew up in. Mike was always a pleasure to be around with his huge laugh, abounding kindness, generous spirit, gentle demeanor, and wonderful humor which he carried for the entirety of this life. Mike always made an indelible impression on anyone who was lucky enough to have crossed paths with him. He was blessed to have many wonderful friends. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in 1981. Shortly thereafter, Mike and his life-companion, Becky, moved to the Pacific Northwest and settled in Seattle.
As a devoted husband, he was supportive, loyal and a best friend. He was a naturally dedicated father who was ever-present as a mentor and coach who taught mental fortitude and compassion with love, grace and patience. In his work, Mike was a stalwart CPA, pinnacled by a 25-year career as Controller & CFO for Alaska Ship Supply.
Mike loved to travel with his wife and family, he never let his camera out of his sight and would take advantage of capturing moments whenever he could to make sure that everyone cherished the adventures, stories and influences the world bestowed upon us. Mike and Becky had the pleasure of being members at their local community garden, The Ballard P-Patch. The camaraderie, friendships and love drew Michael to put his finest touches into growing and helping to maintain their beloved P-Patch. Mike was always a “boy with his dog” and every morning, for many years, Mike and the family dog would go up to our local field and meet up with a regular group of fellow dog walkers. The friendships and bonds made all those years, early in the morning, was truly one of Mike’s great pleasures.
On this day in history, by the grace of Himself and those who live on in his name, may we all believe that his spirit, his smile, and all his love, shall remain in peace and harmony forever.

I knew Mike from the Stevens Point days and beyond. Cycles of life confirm one thought: our Stevens Point years instilled in each of us our memories of those years. I remember Mike as a gregarious, fun, incredibly bright and funny classmate--a decent, warm and heartfelt friend to many. His was no ordinary life--it was a life well-lived and well-loved, a life that will be deeply missed. What a beautiful, totally fitting tribute to Mike. It brought tears and laughter all at once. I will remember my conversations w/ Michael about the Mariners...he always held out hope that they would win more games later in the season and could point out the good plays Specific players recently made... always putting a positive spin on life! I will Miss seeing him and send his adoring family so much love and support.

I was shocked to read about Mike’s passing. I met Mike at the original dog group over at north beach elementary several years ago. Even though we were all up and out early in the morning, Mike always came with the biggest smile on his face. I would also see him at church often at Saint Alphonsus and of course at the QFC! He was such a wonderful nice person and in those early morning conversations he always talked about his children and how proud he was of all of you. And we all know he loved his dogs! Just an outstanding man! I’m so sorry for your families loss.
