Dr. Ralph John Svehaug, DC, ND

Dr. Ralph J. Svehaug died Friday, June 15, 2018, in Seattle, Washington. He was 96. Born January 6, 1922, in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Svehaug was a resident of the Seattle area for 62 years.

Dr. Svehaug studied and earned degrees in chiropractic and naturopathy, with advanced study in othopedics and kinesiology. He then worked as a chiropractor in West Seattle, where he was also a member of Hope Lutheran Church. 

He loved golf, woodworking, playing cards, and formal dancing with his wife. He was a healer; a kind, positive, gentle, generous man of integrity, full of good humor and rock-solid faith.

Dr. Svehaug was preceded in death by his beloved wives Kathleen Norman Svehaug (to whom he was married for 49 years,) and Marion Pommer Svehaug (to whom he was married for 14 years.) He was also predeceased by his younger brother Henry and Oswald. He is survived by son Chris (and daughter-in-law Cindy) Svehaug of Seattle, Washington; son Erik (and daughter-in-law Patty) Svehaug of Santa Cruz, California; son Bill Pommer of Seattle, Washington; daughter Maureen (and son-in-law Gary) Meier of Port Angeles, Washington; and grandchildren Andrew Pommer, John Meier, Paul Meier, Christopher A. Svehaug, Analisa Svehaug and Katy Svehaug.

Services are being planned and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church in West Seattle.
