Yaeko Hoshide Nakano passed away peacefully on July 20, 2019. Yaeko was born on August 2,1922 in Suooshima, Yamaguchi, Japan. After her first birthday she returned to the family home in Tacoma. She attended Lincoln High School until the family was evacuated to the Puyallup and Pinedale Assembly Center, then on to Tule Lake Internment Camp during WWII. There she met and married Yoshihiro George Nakano, who also lived in Tacoma. After the war, they returned to Tacoma (Fife). For 60+ years Yaeko played and taught piano. She was also the organist at the Tacoma Buddhist Temple. She was very active in the local and state music teachers’ associations, as well as numerous church activities. Yaeko spent many hours with her favorite activities, which included, gardening, music, the church and family.  In her final days, she resided at Nikkei Manor and the family wishes to thank the staff of Nikkei Manor for the wonderful care received. She was preceded in death by parents, Kikuzo and Tsuta Hoshide; husband George Nakano; siblings Kiyoshi Hoshide, Hideo Hoshide, Mutsumi Shinoda; and eldest son, Kenichi Nakano. She is survived by sons Hiroshi Nakano (Nancy), Stan Nakano (Akiko); 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Tacoma Buddhist Temple, 1717 S Fawcett Ave, Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tacoma Buddhist Temple.
