As a child, Virginia was an original ballet student at the studios operated by E. Virginia Williams in Melrose and Malden.  Still under Ms. Williams’ guidance, she later studied at the Alicia Langford Studios in the Back Bay and danced in predecessor companies to the New England Civic Ballet which in turn was the predecessor company for the Boston Ballet which Ms. Williams founded.  She later served as an administrative assistant to Ms. Langford and her husband Edwin Binney.   Virginia danced with both Broadway and touring companies of legitimate stage productions including Victor Herbert’s “The Red Mill”.  She also worked with her childhood friend Charlotte Lipner who operated a dance studio in Norwood.  Mrs. Davis and her former husband, the late Hubert, were active figures in post-World War II Waltham and Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish.  She operated a dance studio from their Berkley Street home as his paving and landscaping company helped build out much of the area along and off Trapelo Road.  They were closely associated with their friend Paul Shaughnessy who became Mayor as Mr. Davis served as chief secretary and later City Auditor.  In her later years, she lived on Cape Cod and in Weston as well as spending time in Arizona and Seattle near her children.
