Sandra (Sandy), 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Shoreline, after a long battle with cancer and dementia. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She had an upbeat, cheerful personality and loved dancing.
Born and raised in Seattle, Sandy graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1965 and attended Washington State University and the University of Washington (UW). She graduated Cum Laude from the UW in 1969 with a BS in Nursing. In 1994 she returned to the UW to earn her Master’s in Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP). Always concerned about the health and well-being of others, she had a long career spent in cardiology, vascular surgery, gerontology, and clinical research.
While cancer and dementia robbed her of time and memories, her sense of humor, care of others, and love of music remained intact.
She was friendly and curious and would strike up conversations with anyone wherever she went. In addition to a love of dancing, she enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family and friends, including several lifelong friends from high school. Sandy loved the beach and sun, with Hawaii being one of her favorite destinations.
As a supportive and loving single mother, she raised her two children through the ups and downs of life. Her unconditional love, kindness and support helped build a strong foundation and an inspiration to seek joy and happiness in life.
Sandy is survived by her mother Arta Lee Kildall (Elsom), son Matthew Harris, daughter Tamara Harris (Brian Ford), and grandsons Charles and Alexander Ford. She was preceded in death by her father Harold Lynn Kildall and brother Tom Kildall.
