Sally M. Henry

d. May 23, 2014

Sally McCall Henry, 87, died May 23, 2014 in Seattle. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hearthstone Chapel, 6720 E. Green Lake Way N., Seattle.

Sally was the daughter of L.E. & Ann Henry of Cedar Rapids, IA

The following was written by Sally “to thank all of those who, by their love and loyalty, enriched my life. My great love was dogs – especially German Shepherds. You may remember Guy, Max, Timber, Tyler, or Quinn. I am pictured with Quinn. West Okoboji Lake in northwest Iowa claimed another part of my heart, and summers brought me back to that special place time and time again. Lake friends surrounded me with care. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, I attended Franklin High School and the University of Iowa with studies in physical education and English. Later degrees in special education and counseling came from the University of Washington. Many of my students were special. From the Tucson, Arizona classes and tennis and fencing clubs (1949-54), to Wuerzburg and Munich, Germany teaching American Army children (’54-56) to Seattle at James Monroe, Ingraham, West Seattle, Hale, and Cleveland (1957-1988). I was blessed with loving parents and a wonderful brother, George, his sons Jerry (Jennifer), and Jeff (Carolyn), and grandnieces Kalese (John Sheldahl) and Kestrel. My loving family was also extended by Kay Shive Henry, Polly Pagliai (Armand, Tony, Jaclyn), Phil Shive (Cinde, Meredith), and Mike Shive (Becky, Landon, Carson). High school friends never lost contact. The Ambassadors made a difference. There was a bond with those involved with rescue dogs and gardening. For those who still are living, may hope and love surround each moment of each day. Thank you for being a part of who I was. Remembrances can be made to any animal rescue group – locally, nationally, or internationally – that honors animals with respect, care, and love.”
