Dr. Robert Allen Covin, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and esteemed member of the dental community, passed away on April 14, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. He was one month from turning 88 years old. Born on May 14, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Robert was the cherished son of Norman Zacovitch, DDS, and Ida Rovner Zacovitch. He attended the University of Illinois, Champaign, pursuing his passion for dentistry until attending the University of Illinois, Chicago, College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
Following his education, Dr. Covin served his country as a Dentist and Captain in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas. He then established a thriving dental practice in Woodland Hills, California, where he dedicated himself to providing exceptional care to his patients for 33 years. He retired in Seattle, Washington, where he further dedicated time to the office of public Health in downtown Seattle, completing 40 years in the dental community.
Dr. Covin is survived by his loving daughters, Dr. Pamela Covin Morris in Novato, CA, and Jennifer Covin in San Diego, CA, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Dean Morris, Evan Morris, and Kent Morris. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Jerome Covin.
Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a man of many passions and interests. He cherished time spent with his family and friends, relished travel, and found joy in pursuits such as photography, music, racket ball, golf and skiing. In retirement, he remained active and engaged, enjoying walks, keeping abreast of the latest computer technology, immersing himself in presidential biographies and talk radio, savoring Broadway musicals, and cherishing moments with his grandsons. His wit, humor, and stimulating conversations will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private service will be held to honor the life of Dr. Robert Allen Covin, a remarkable man whose legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
