Rita Elizabeth (Hofmann) Forster

d. February 16, 2024

Rita Elizabeth (Hofmann) Forster passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 16, 2024, at the age of 89.  She was born in Montrose, Colorado, Feb. 28, 1934. She was the fourth of four children to John Stuart Hofmann and Elizabeth Marie Hofmann (Smith). She was a strong woman of faith and enjoyed working in the yard, hosting regular family dinners and always being there for her family and friends. Best known as Mom, Grandma Rita, and Aunt Rita. She was a quiet observationist, with subtle humor and wit.

Rita started nursing training in Colorado and then moved to Seattle to finish her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Seattle University in 1959. She stayed in Seattle, made many friends, and married David Forster in 1960. They raised three children, Tim, Scott, and Marie.

Rita worked as a Registered Nurse at various Seattle area hospitals and retired from Providence Hospital Everett in 2007.   She loved being a nurse, especially working with cardiac patients and their families.

Rita is survived by her two children Scott (Molly) of Seattle and Marie (Chris) Nord of Lake Forest Park.   She was proud of and loved her three amazing grandchildren, Will, Romy, and Tess. She was also very fond of her many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Rita is preceded in death by her son, Tim, brothers, Ed, Bill and John, parents, Stuart and Bette, former spouse David.

Special thanks to Winnie and all her Caregivers for their years of friendship and support.

Rita’s family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
