Nancy Pinney (Née Brummet)

d. 2009

Nancy Pinney, age 85, passed away peacefully on May 29th in Mercer Island, WA. Born in Oregon, Ohio, Nancy’s life was a testament to resilience and creativity.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was playing the night of Nancy’s first date, a night that ended in tragedy as an accident nearly cost her life. However, Nancy’s indomitable spirit saw her through, and she learned to talk and walk again, eventually becoming a florist, a devoted wife, and a loving mother to seven children.

Nancy was a founding member of the Catholic Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Federal Way and served as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Her ingenuity and determination were further evidenced by her holding a patent. Despite facing adversity, Nancy continued to fight and make a significant impact on the world around her.

A vibrant and creative soul, Nancy filled her life with art, fun, and adventure. Known for her exceptional skills as a home economist, she had a flair for sewing and cooking, always crafting something beautiful and delicious for her loved ones. Her faith in Christ was inspiring and a guiding light to many.

Nancy was fearless and a fierce protector of her family and friends, a fashionable lady with a special love for hats and earrings. She had a passion for baseball and boxing, in fact her love for the Mariners was so profound that she became a beloved greeter at Safeco Field, sharing her enthusiasm with fellow fans. A true adventurer, she enjoyed traveling and was always ready for a new experience. Nancy also had an incredible love for playing cards and was known for her unbelievable luck.

Nancy married JonArthur Pinney in October 1962, and they remained devoted to each other until his passing in 2009. Her spirit and strength will continue to live on in her six surviving children and eight grandchildren.  As she wished, her body will be cremated and she will be buried at Calvary Cemetery, in the same grave as her firstborn son, Robert, in Section 18 “Guardian Angels” Lot 4, Grave 150.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of creativity, faith, and love. Known for her kindness, fun-loving spirit, and constant smile, she was always grateful and easy to be around. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Special thanks to the Aegis caregivers for their compassionate care.
