Monica (Niki) Frances Lane Evans of Seattle, WA, passed away June 21, 2015 at her home after a brief illness. Her last weeks were filled with love and laughter as she was able to receive hospice care in her downtown Seattle home.
Niki was born in Independence, IA and raised in Dubuque, IA. She lived the majority of her life in Sunnyvale, CA, moving to Seattle 8 years ago to be closer to her family. She traveled to California with a friend and a backpack in her early 20s and, after experiencing the easy and mild weather on the West Coast, never turned back. She worked as a buyer in a machine shop for many years. After her retirement, she worked at her local polling place during elections and often joked about the strain of her one-day-a-year job. She enjoyed travel, with Hawaii and Disneyland being among her favorite trips, although a recent road trip to the Grand Canyon with her sister also rated highly on her list. She was an avid reader, especially of mystery novels, and a devoted “Jeopardy” watcher. She was never without her cup of coffee, and most of her favorite people were cats. Niki had a wicked sense of humor and her quick wit will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughter and daughter-in-law, Casey Evans and Caren Goldenberg; brother, Chuck Lane; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 18, in Milwaukee WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
