Born into a leading pioneer family, Mary Lee Eden attended Alki Grade School, James Madison Jr. High, graduating from West Seattle High School in 1948. She continued her education at extensions of William & Mary in Norfolk, Virginia and later at the University of Washington.
In 1951, she married Donald “Lefty” Eden. Family and tennis became one of Mary Lee’s priorities. She continued to play tennis into her late 80’s.
Throughout her life, Mary Lee served others: As a Girl Scout Leader for 21 girls; President of Betsy Wilson Orthopedic Guild, Child Hearing League, etc.; Women’s Vice President and Trustee of the Seattle Club for 6 elected years; Vice-President of Woodcreek Homeowners Assoc., etc.
Mary Lee was the English Resource Center Supervisor at Mercer Island High School for 15 years. She served as secretary to the principal for 1 year, followed by 10 years as an Administrative Assistant to the Head of Operations in Maintenance & Operations.
Mary Lee lived at Skyline for her last 12 years. She loved all the staff and residents there. She also enjoyed and excelled in gathering people together and hosting events and get togethers for friends and family.
Her surviving family include daughters Robin Dreana Eden; Kerri Ann Eden and son Guy Donald Eden along with grandchildren, Max and Kia Eden and great-grandchildren, Kingston and Reddington.
