Laurie Ann Szidloski, born on February 21, 1965, in Dover, New Jersey and grew up in Lake Hopatcong where she forged life-long friendships. She passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Seattle, Washington, surrounded by her three children.
Laurie was known for her helpful spirit and boundless enthusiasm. Whether it was helping her sister assemble furniture, joining a family project, or simply being there when needed, Laurie always answered with an enthusiastic “Yes!” Laurie moved to West Virginia and later South Carolina to help family and friends in need, always ready to lend a hand "with bells on" whenever it mattered most. She was known as the ultimate “Yes” gal by those close to her.
Her creative nature was evident in her handmade beaded jewelry, hair clips, and handbags, which she lovingly sent to her nieces as a way to stay close despite the distance. Laurie also cherished her grandson, Dante, lighting up whenever she saw him and making sure every moment was filled with joy. Even in her last days, she managed to bring joy to family gatherings, like at "Siblings Thanksgiving," where she had everyone laughing as she playfully dipped all her food into beer cheese with a fondue fork.
When Laurie's health required it, her family rallied around her. Her sisters and mother took over her care, first moving her back to New Jersey and then facilitating her move to Seattle, where she could be closer to her children and continue treatment. Her time in Seattle was filled with healing, love, and precious moments with her family. Her children cherished the late nights spent watching movies and interviewing her about her life.
Laurie is survived by her children: Jessica Primavera, Crystal Primavera, and Adam Cassano; her grandson, Dante Primavera; her mother, Susan E. Wills; and her siblings: Mary Szidloski, Michaela Szidloski, Michael Szidloski, Thomas Szidloski, Stephan Szidloski, and Jeanie Szidloski. They carry forward her legacy of compassion, openness, and unwavering willingness to help.
A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held in July 2025, when her family will spread her ashes on Mt. Rainier once the snow thaws. Friends and loved ones who wish to participate are welcome to receive some of her ashes to spread on their favorite trail, ensuring her spirit continues to wander in nature’s beauty. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family’s GoFundMe page are appreciated to help cover memorial expenses and fulfill Laurie’s last wishes. (https://gofund.me/7bee92e5)
Laurie’s spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched—reminding us all that a little enthusiasm, a ready “Yes!” and a warm smile can make life “oodles and doodles” richer.
