On March 21st, in the early morning, our dear Laurie, beloved wife, sister, mother to her loving daughters, grandchildren, and whippets, treasure hunter, humble yet epic artist, craftswoman, and friend to so many, died peacefully at home surrounded by beloved blood and chosen family, spring flowers, and a warming fire in the hearth.
Laurie was born on September 27th, 1954 in Seattle, Washington to her mother and father Hazel and
Albert Mortinson. She was married to David Lefebvre on the 1st of April, 2000.
Laurie was a gemstone lover, art collector, jewelry designer, and a vibrant community member. She was a beloved matriarch of her Oregon Country Fair family, a long time crafter at the Ballard Sunday market, Best of the Northwest, and many other surrounding craft shows, and an original staff person at Seattle’s legendary Sunlight Cafe.
She leaves behind her a loving community of artists, makers, healers, and friends. We are so thankful for all the ways she has touched and graced our lives. We thank her for gracing us with her golden heart, sense of humor, and endless generosity. May her laugh and smiling eyes forever be in our hearts. May she forever live on in the sparkles of her gemstone jewelry she so generously created and shared with the world. May she be set free, back to the stars from which she came.
Laurie leaves behind her husband David, her sister Mary Guderjohn, children Joseph and Therese Lefebvre, her nieces Wendy Harvy and Katrina Johnston, nephew Daniel Guderjohn, many grandchildren, cousins, and a handful of chosen daughters who loved her dearly.
A celebration of her life is scheduled on the 28th of October from 1 to 4 PM at Om Culture, 2210 N Pacific St, Seattle, WA 98103.
