Feb. 28, 1942 – May 20, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karin Friedman (nee Fernandes), a beloved figure in her Bothell community and beyond. Karin peacefully departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, adventure, and culinary delight.

Karin's professional journey spanned three decades as a dedicated pediatric and neonatal intensive care nurse in Richmond, California. Her commitment to caring for others was unwavering, touching the lives of countless families during their most vulnerable moments.

A true Bay Area native, Karin's love for knowledge and literature led her to become a fierce advocate for public libraries. For over a decade, she generously volunteered her time at the Bothell Public Library.

Beyond her professional and volunteer endeavors, Karin was a passionate nature photographer, capturing the beauty of the world around her through her lens. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the wonders of national parks, with Yosemite holding a special place in her heart. Year after year, Karin embarked on annual pilgrimages to Yosemite, finding solace and inspiration in its majestic landscapes.

A connoisseur of cuisine, Karin delighted in savoring flavors from all corners of the globe, from fine dining establishments to humble street food vendors. Yet, her greatest joy came from sharing these culinary experiences with loved ones. As a talented chef in her own right, Karin's culinary creations brought joy and nourishment to those fortunate enough to enjoy them.

Karin's love extended beyond the kitchen and into the realm of sports, where she cheered passionately for her beloved Golden State Warriors and Seattle Seahawks. Her enthusiasm for the game was infectious, bringing together friends and family in spirited camaraderie.

Karin leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by her children Dan, Kathy, Jennifer, Jonathan, Ilana, Daniel, Cecelia, Stephan and Michelle, and grandchildren Ella, Adrienne, Nicole, Amber and Brayden. Though she may have departed this world, Karin's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hopelink in Karin's memory, continuing her legacy of battling food insecurity and community enrichment.

A celebration of Karin's life will be held on June 16th, 10am, at Blyth Park 16950 W Riverside Dr, Bothell, WA 98011, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share stories.
