Frederick (Rick) William Coffman was born December 15, 1948 to Dorothy Jane Rothenbach Coffman and Frederick Coffman in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Rick graduated from Finneytown High School where he excelled in sports and was awarded the MVP basketball trophy his senior year. He attended Bowling Green University, Eastern Kentucky University and Kenyon College where he graduated with honors and distinction. He earned a Master's Degree in Philosophy from the University of Oregon and did additional coursework in philosophy at the University of Cincinnati.
Rick taught philosophy classes at Cincinnati State and tutored at Seattle Community College.
Rick was passionate about philosophy, music, sports, dogs and had an amazing memory. Wittgenstein was his favorite philosopher and Don Gustafson, his beloved mentor. He loved his niece Alana and nephews Jamal and Drew Hobson, Kevin and Sean Hutchinson, great niece Harper and great nephew Isaac Hobson. Rick passed away suddenly on August 22, 2024 from a cardiac arrest in Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his sisters Connie Coffman and Sandra Coffman both of Seattle, Washington. Rick's family is celebrating his life privately.
