David Patrick Dunn

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVID PATRICK DUNN

David Patrick Dunn, treasured husband, father, grandfather and friend, known for his infectious smile, love of family, passion for education, and zest for life, was born May 13, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away on November 18, 2024, in Kirkland WA.

David was the beloved son of Arthur and Lois Dunn, and as their cherished only child, he enjoyed many adventures with his family, cousins and friends growing up. As an honor student, track star and Eagle Scout, David graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, in June 1967 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and religion.

After college, David moved to Seattle WA, where he met Janet Linstedt in 1967 at the University of Washington campus. They later married in 1968. David joined the Navy as a Russian linguist, embarking on many adventures and travels with Janet, including moves to Monterey CA, and Morocco North Africa. Following his Navy Active Duty, David dedicated himself to helping veterans receive their benefits at the Veterans Administration in Seattle and continued to serve in the Navy Reserves, retiring as a Captain.

David's life was rich in diverse interests and hobbies. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, walking and kayaking. He also took up playing the guitar, karate, chess and teaching aerobics, later becoming a certified trainer. Passionate about learning, he loved reading and educational programming. He enjoyed his home in Bellevue, where he grew his family and built memories for over 50 years.

Davd was survived by wife Janet Dunn; daughter, Andrea Manning; son-in-law Philip Manning; and grandchildren, Jaylen and Mylah Manning. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Dunn. David fought a brave battle with Parkinson's dementia, and those who had the honor of knowing him will greatly miss him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 20th at 2 PM at the Heritage Hall in Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in David’s memory.
