Daniel Alan VanderWerf Stanaland died at his home in Seattle Washington on January 29, 2023 at age 40. Although born in Frankfurt, Germany on July 1st 1982, he moved to Virginia at age 5 with his parents and his younger brother Nathan. Daniel became fascinated by computers at an early age and after graduating from George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia, he attended the University of Maryland for one year before transferring to James Madison University in Harrisonburg,Virginia, graduating with a triple major in computer science. He was immediately recruited into the corporate world where he stayed for almost ten years. After a year off for health reasons, Daniel’s work eventually led him to Winchester, Virginia and finally to Seattle, Washington, the adopted city of his heart.
Daniel is survived by his father Randey Stanaland of Madison Alabama where he lives with his wife Beverly; his mother Joyce Lynne and her husband Joseph McCaleb of Berkeley Springs West Virginia; his brother Nathan Bryan Stanaland of Greenville, South Carolina; and his dear friend Natalija Muratovic of Zagreb Croatia.
Internment on February 7th at The Meadow natural burial site, Ferndale, Washington.
