Clarice “Criss” Meligro, died July 13, 2022 at home, in the loving care of her daughter Dr. Maile Flores and her granddaughter, Leanna Bordner. At the age of 82, Criss celebrated life to the fullest. Despite having graciously survived Polio as a child, multiple surgeries, multiple cancers, Criss never let illness or struggle prevent her from enjoying all that life had to offer. She traveled to over 30 countries after retiring from her professional career as a histologist, a field she helped shape through publications, training residents, and incredible dedication. You could always find her behind the lens of a camera or in her favorite role as a framer of art. She is survived by her children, David Meligro and Maile Flores, her 5 granddaughters, Danielle Polk, Leanna Bordner, Kalani Meligro, Lemao Taualii, Maliatoa Taualii and her sister Darlene Saathoff. A celebration of life will be held July 30th among family and friends. For those wanting to express their aloha for Criss, her daughter requests that you send photos and stories to cmeligro@hotmail.com . In lieu of flowers for her memorial, Criss preferred donations be sent to the Foothills Historical Museum, www.foothillshistoricalmuseum.org , a museum started by her Uncle Charles Jess Rose, dedicated to identifying, collecting, and sharing of the history of Buckley and the surrounding Carbon River Corridor.
