Carol Deane Williams Lebing passed away at her home in Seattle, WA, on Monday, September 20, 2021, following prolonged management of metastatic breast cancer, where she met each round of diagnosis and treatment with her characteristic bravery and grace.
Her life journey began in Gainesville, GA in 1941. After graduating from Gainesville High School in 1959, she earned a degree in Music Theory from Brenau College in 1963. Carol's driving passions were music and fitness. She was best known as a beloved piano teacher and Jazzercise instructor.
In 1985 she moved to Raleigh, NC, with her husband and younger daughter. Then in 2006, she and her husband moved to Seattle, WA, where their daughter and grandson were living. She was a spectacular grandmother and thrilled in the role.
Carol lived life to the fullest with poise, beauty, and confidence. She traveled extensively within the U.S. and many foreign destinations, including China, Africa, Europe, Australia. No matter where she landed, she befriended people along the way, disarming any reticence with her warmth and interest. She experienced many adventures including over 100 SCUBA dives and even a few rustic fishing trips with her husband.
Her social circle was extensive, as she enthusiastically engaged in book clubs and game groups. Friends and family admired her wicked sense of humor and her kindness. She made everything around her more beautiful and enjoyable. Many looked to her for guidance, deep friendship, and motherly understanding. To her husband she was the brightest star in his universe.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jessie Deane Williams; and two of her siblings, Patricia Greer and Roger Williams. She is survived by her husband, Wytold Richard Lebing; her sister, Dianne Ravin; her daughters, Laurie Ledford and Anna Anafi; and her grandson, Benjamin Anafi.
