Brooke Lerryn Stephens (born Barbara Leimgruber), 74, of Seattle, Washington, passed away August 1, 2024. Born on October 14, 1949, in Bowling Green Ohio. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor. She is survived by her children, Kristi Stephens Adams and Shaun Michael Stephens, her grandchildren, Jalen, Eme and Quintin, and her beloved family and dear life long friends.
Brooke was an enthusiastic and determined individual who carved her own path in life. She was not afraid to take charge, deeply loved her family and friends, and was incredibly proud of the people in her life. Remembered for her resilience, sharp wit, and intelligence, Brooke made a lasting impact on everyone she met and greatly enjoyed helping others.
Brooke graduated from Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, CA and California State University Chabot College. She was a powerful ballet dancer, gymnast, surfer, and cheerleader. After she received her degree, she moved from Hayward, CA to Seattle, WA for a fresh start and better life for herself and her two children, Kristi and Shaun. Brooke enjoyed a distinguished career as a computer analyst working for Wang Computers and Apple Computers, as she pioneered as a woman in the tech world before most people knew what computers were. Later in her career, she worked for international companies that created software for law firms and accounting firms, which enabled her to live and travel across the United States and Europe, including living in London, England for a time, while she enjoyed "mildly stalking" Eddie Izzard, as an enthusiastic fan. After her retirement, she enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and neighbors, and spending time reading novels, enjoying coloring and living quietly among her wonderful community of neighbors.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues. The family will have a private gathering to spread Brooke's ashes according to her wishes. In lieu of flowers, they encourage donations to be made in Brooke’s memory for causes she worked hard to support relating to helping women and children in need.
