March 16, 1950 – August 23, 2018
Age 68 Seattlite, and former long-time resident of Juneau, Alaska, Bonita passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Bonita was born in Seattle, WA and graduated from Mountlake Terrace Senior High. Prior to moving to Juneau in the mid 70’s, Bonita worked in the purchasing department of the Seattle Public Library. After moving to Alaska, Bonita worked at Sealaska Corporation in the finance department for a number of years, followed by becoming the Finance Director at Association of Alaska School Boards in Juneau from where she retired. Upon retirement Bonita and husband, Tom Williams, moved to Seattle.
Bonita married Tom Williams, the love of her life on July 2, 1994, at Adlersheim Lodge on the shores of Lynn Canal, north of Juneau. Although Bonita had health challenges throughout her life, she successfully resisted the notion that it defined her life. She preferred to focus on being good at her job and on nurturing enduring friendships, and gathering and creating her loving family, some of whom shared her DNA, and many who did not. Bonita loved gardening and making things grow, and she enjoyed reading. She was community-minded and was an advocate for social and environmental issues. She loved dogs and enjoyed spending time with her favorite dogs, Teka and Sophie.
Bonita was preceded in death by her father (Kenneth Glenn) and mother (Martha Rowland). She will be missed by her husband, Tom, sisters Sandy Carter (Mike Anderson) and Kim Guzzetti (David Guzzetti), cousins, her god- daughter in Oregon, and numerous loved ones whose lives were eternally changed for the better by having met her. A Seattle celebration of life will be held in the area on a date to be determined. A celebration of life will also be held in Juneau, Alaska, on a date to be determined in the spring, 2019.
