July 24, 1929 — November 3, 2024

Seattle

Beverley Hulme Davis, of Seattle, Washington, died peacefully on November 3, 2024 with her family close by.

Born July 24,1929 in Kelowna, British Columbia, to Nelly and Thomas P. Hulme, Beverley spent the majority of her life living in the United States raising her four children with her husband Graham Davis, who predeceased her in 2015.

Bev and Graham met on a blind date in Vancouver, British Columbia, and they married soon after. After time in San Diego, CA, Longview, WA, and Charleston, SC, they settled in New Canaan, CT, where they spent nearly 35 years raising their family, amassing a close-knit group of friends, and investing in their community. Bev’s heartwarming smile and natural beauty was always a recipe for fun. She was a vocal cheerleader at her kids' many sporting events, a familiar face with an eye for style at the Whitney Shop, and an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. An avid golfer at the Country Club of New Canaan, Bev delighted in playing with the US Women’s Senior Golf Association. In addition to golf, she also enjoyed playing paddle tennis, tennis, skiing, and was a voracious reader.

As empty nesters, Beverley and Graham moved to be closer to their grown kids and grandchildren in Madison, CT before settling in West Seattle, WA in 1997 to be near their youngest son, Phil and his family.

Beverley was a proud and devoted mother, but her greatest joy were her 11 grandchildren, and later 11 great-grandchildren, for whom she was a steady presence. “Dede” will be remembered for her hearty laugh and great sense of humor, timely birthday cards with loopy print lettering, her competitive and athletic nature- always willing to throw a ball for hours or challenge someone to a putting and chipping contest – endless appetite for read-alouds, and for her delicious cooking – especially for the family favorites: a tie between meatloaf and breaded porkchop.

Beverley is survived by her four children – Brad (Deb) of Putnum, CT, Graham Jr. (Sandra) of Madison, CT, Sarah (Tom) Davidson of Madison, CT, and Phil (Cathy) of Seattle, WA – 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

The entire Davis family is grateful to Horizon House for the exceptional care they devoted to Beverley and Graham since they moved there in 2011. A celebration of life will take place in 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Horizons House’s Partners in Caring Endowment and to EvergreenHealth Foundation’s Hospice Support.
