Betty Mae Sill, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving sister, peacefully passed away on December 22nd at the age of 98. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her faith.
Born on May 24, 1926, in Seattle, Washington, to Alfred and Florence Hill, Betty grew up in National, Wenatchee, and Green Lake, WA. Betty met her beloved Bob Sill at Green Lake Free Methodist Church, and they married when they were both just twenty years old. They shared 64 wonderful years of marriage before Bob's passing on April 9, 2011.
As a professional homemaker, Betty embraced the challenges of the frequent moves Bob's career required, skillfully transforming each house into a warm and loving home. She was known for her tenderness, graciousness, quick wit, immense love, and deep faith. Betty always made it a point to express her unwavering support and love for those around her.
A hidden talent blossomed into a passion for painting and drawing, with many of her artworks now treasured by her family. Betty also deeply loved reading and enjoyed the outdoors, often torn between her affection for the mountains and the ocean. She found joy in being surrounded by her family and friends, excelling as a wonderful hostess. Moving to Covenant Shores allowed her to expand her circle of friends, where she truly valued her weekly Bible study and the special connections, she made with those in the group.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her son Kevin, and her sister Rose Marie (Dan) Lowman. Betty was the eldest of five siblings and is survived by her three sisters: Louise Butler (widow of Bill), Marilyn Gibson (widow of Keith), and Kay Gill (Garth). Betty’s children include Steven Sill (widower of Colleen), Lori Thorpe (Jeff), Lisa Nesmith (Dwayne), and daughter-in-law Anina Sill (widow of Kevin). She was fortunate to have ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
While she understood that her passing would bring sadness to us all, she wished for us to celebrate her life and find solace in the knowledge that she was with the Lord and reunited with those who had gone before her, patiently waiting for the rest of us.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Covenant Shores Fellowship Hall on Friday, January 10th, at 1:00 PM (9107 Fortuna Drive, Mercer Island, WA ). In place of flowers, the family requests that people make donations to Providence Hospice or Covenant Shores Benevolent Fund.
