Barbara Lee Narancic was born January 29, 1947 in Beatrice, Nebraska to George and Bernadine (Kechley) Narancic. She arrived as the second oldest to what would be a family of 14 children. Heaven welcomed a true angel on April 2, 2024 after a short illness at Montlake Hospital in Seattle, Washington.
Barbara attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s School in Beatrice, Nebraska in 1965. Barb’s parents left Beatrice in July 1968, and she followed them to Seattle, Washington in November 1968. Her first job in Seattle was at Fircrest School, a home for intellectually disabled, from January 1969 to March of 1976.
Barb next worked at the University of Washington Student Health Center from 1980 to October of 1995 as a Medical Records Technician and Relief Receptionist. She retired from there in 1995.
Barb leaves behind one son, Frederick, his wife, Jennifer, and two granddaughters, Chloe, 16, and Savannah, 14. They live in Coquitlam, B.C., Canada, a suburb of Vancouver. Barb visited with them frequently in Canada and had so much fun enjoying her family. Barb’s family and extended family were the most important thing in her life. She will be remembered for her loving, generous nature. No one in the family except Barb knew every birthday or anniversary. She had an amazing memory and was always giving gifts to everyone she loved.
She continued her volunteer work at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle as long as her health allowed.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents and six siblings: Patricia, Gregory, Mary, Christine, James and John, who have been awaiting her arrival in heaven. Barbara leaves behind her devoted partner of 20 years, Jose Hernandez, two sisters: Victoria Swenson, (Texas) and Kathleen Harris (Fred) of Seattle, and five brothers: George (Ruth) of Arizona; and Jerome (Linda), Vincent, Anthony, and Paul (Janelle), all of Seattle.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Bothell, WA. Fr. Daniel Syverstad officiating.
