Andrew (Lex) Alexander Meneeley Iii

d. June 3, 2016

Andrew (Lex) Alexander Meneeley III left this life on June 3rd. On August 31, 1953 Lex was born in Great Falls, MT to parents Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Meneeley. He was born into an USAF family and lived in many states, Japan and Turkey. In 1971 he graduated from high school in Kettle Falls, WA. and 4 years later received his Education degree from Eastern Washington University. During his tenure as a Special Education teacher he earned a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. He began his 38 year teaching career in Sand Point ID and retired from Kennydale Elementary, Renton WA. as a second grade teacher. Lex was a person who found his passion in working with special needs children whom required his extraordinary ability to relate and communicate to those most deserving and challenging students. Lex loved to travel and was especially fond of the beaches in Hawaii. Every summer, when he could squeeze it in, he could be found somewhere on one of the islands. The coast lines of Oregon, Washington and western Canada were also frequent designation points. A late favorite in life were visits to Palm Springs to visit friends and enjoy the beautiful desert. Two of his favorite world travel trips were when he visited Sweden and then later made a Mediterranean Sea cruise, highlighted with a stop in Istanbul, Turkey. But even with all his travels, his overall favorite place to spend his work and relaxation time was Seattle and the surrounding areas.

Lex was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Steinmark, Linda Moore, and Ricki Ann Githens. Also surviving are many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

He will be sorely missed and was surrounded in his last days by his numerous friends, which gave him sincere comfort.  There is also a special thanks to friends and relatives who gave support and care to Lex on nearly a daily basis since the beginnings of his yearlong battle with cancer.

Lex was a devoted brother, uncle and friend who will long be remembered for his great sense of humor and magnetic personality that drew people of all ages to him. His genuine compassion made a huge difference in the lives of many during his life.

A memorial service will be held on Monday June 6, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
