Alan D. Riley, born January 8, 1928, passed away on November 16, 2023.
Alan grew up in the Twin Cities and from an early age enjoyed exploring the outdoors, especially along the Mississippi River. He attended the University of Minnesota, and met and married the love of his life, JoAnn (Glasrud) Riley.
After a few years in Minnesota, Alan and Jo headed West and landed in Seattle, where they grew a circle of friends who became their family.
Alan was a passionate environmentalist who worked hard, and effectively, to see legislation passed that would benefit the state’s, and nation’s wildlife for years to come. He was never more intensely alive than when he was in the mountains.
Alan was preceded in death by his beloved Jo. He leaves behind warm friends, valued neighbors, nieces and nephews and an “honorary granddaughter”, all of whose lives he touched, and enlightened, in ways that will not be forgotten.
