"Ben" Morales, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle & friend passed away peacefully at his home, at the age of 88.
Born in Panama & and raised in Jamaica, Ben’s life was marked by determination. He arrived in the US in 1962 & was employed at The Space Needle. Ben embarked on a journey that would lead to a lifetime of love, & hard work. On November 8, 1968, he proudly became a naturalized citizen, fully embracing the opportunities of the USA.
In the early 1960s, Ben met Mary Murray. Together, they built a life together in the Mt. Baker neighborhood of Seattle, where they raised two sons. Ben became a well-known figure in the community, living in the same home for over six decades.
Ben was employed for decades at The Harbor Club, where his commitment & warmth were felt by all who knew him, & whom he served until his retirement in 2015. At home, Ben could be strict & firm in his beliefs, always striving to instill a strong work ethic in his children. He also had a softer side. Whenever classic Jazz or a Sinatra tune played, he would pause, allowing the music to transport him back to simpler times, a moment of reflection & warmth amid his otherwise steadfast demeanor.
Ben is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his daughter Elizabeth, his two sons Frank(Lyn) & Jerry(Jennifer), numerous grandchildren, one great-grandson, along with several nieces & nephews. His legacy of love, dedication, and resilience live on through them and the countless lives he touched.
On September 7th, from 4pm - 6pm, a reception will be held at St. Clement's Episcopal Church, located at 1501 32nd Ave S., Seattle, WA 98144 in the undercroft. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ben’s memory to St. Clement’s Episcopal Church.
Ben Morales will be deeply missed by his family and friends. But fondly remembered for his kindness, service, wisdom, & the indelible mark he left behind.
