Eleanor Anne Anderson was born on Jan. 11th, 1934, in San Francisco and died suddenly from a stroke on June 19, 2012, in Kirkland, WA, aged 78. Eleanor grew up in San Francisco and Redwood City, CA, graduating from Sequoia High School (1951) and California Secretarial School (1952). She worked in the accounting departments of National of Hartford, American Insurance, and Springfield Fire & Casualty, all in the Bay Area. She later moved to Washington State with her then-husband and two children, living in Millwood and Auburn. While in Auburn, she enjoyed being an at-home mom, was active in her church, and volunteered as the coordinator of the local Meals-on-Wheels program. She later settled in Bellevue, where she lived for 31 years, before moving to Kirkland in 2009. In 1998 she retired after working more than 20 years in the accounting department of Grange Insurance in Seattle.
Eleanor was a proud Scandinavian (half Norwegian and half Swedish) who loved chocolate, cats, mystery books, the ocean, daisies, “Singin’ in the Rain,” lobster, bagpipe music, sewing, travelling, and her family. She leaves behind daughter Nancy (David) Matthews, son Mike (Patti) Anderson, and grandsons Lukas, Josh, Jacob, and Nick. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 28th, 2012, at 11 am at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 10021 NE 124th Street, Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.

Eleanor’s love for her children and grandchildren is my over-riding impression of her. She was always interested in what they were up to, and extended that interest to their friends and friends’ children. I am very sorry for your loss.

There was not many family gatherings that Eleanor missed and I am certain she cherished those times with her son & his family. Eleanor had a smile to share whenever I saw her at these events. She would have a story ready to share with me about a past airline experience or trip she took in her lifetime. She was well loved & well cared for over the years which certainly must have made her heart sing. We are thinking of you and your family during this time.
